Product overview

1. Parasitic life cycle Transmission: cat heartworm is transmitted through the bite of a mosquito infected with filarial larvae. When a mosquito infected with filarial larvae bites a cat, the filarial larvae enter the cat’s skin and then travel through the bloodstream to the heart and lungs to grow into adult worms.

Adult growth: the adult worms settle in the cat’s heart and lungs and continue to grow, releasing tiny larvae called microfilariae, which enter the cat’s blood circulation and wait for the next mosquito bite to transmit them. 2.

Symptoms Mild infection: mildly infected cats may have no obvious symptoms or may show mild coughing, shortness of breath, and occasional vomiting. Severe infection: Severely infected cats may show symptoms such as coughing, difficulty breathing, weight loss, weakness, fainting, etc., which may even lead to death.

Complications: Serious complications of feline heartworm disease include heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary embolism, etc., which may pose a serious threat to the cat’s life. 3.

Testing and diagnosis Blood test: ITGen’s rapid feline heartworm test can detect the presence of feline heartworm DNA or antibodies in a cat’s blood through blood, which is fast, accurate and convenient.
